Mrs. Autumn Tomei

Originally from Greenville, South Carolina, Mrs. Tomei is excited to plant her roots in the Metro-Atlanta area. Ms. Smith holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Florida State University, where she graduated Cum Laude. During her time at Florida State, she was a member of the World Renowned Marching Chiefs, as well as Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity.

​This is her third year at Autrey Mill Middle School. She has previously taught at Elkins Pointe Middle School in Roswell, GA and Rice Creek K-8 School in Port Wentworth, GA. She is a member of the Georgia Educator's Association as well as the National Association for Music Education.

Outside of teaching band, she enjoys spending time with her husband (who also teaches band!), watching Marvel movies, playing with her three cats: Squeaky, Cowboy, and Archie, getting a sweet treat with friends and spending time outdoors.

  
Mr. Ty Cundy
Assistant Director of Bands
Johns Creek High School and Autrey Mill Middle School
 
Mr. Ty Cundy is currently in his first year as Assistant Director of Bands at Johns Creek High School and Autrey Mill Middle School, and is in his third year coordinating percussion within the cluster. In this position, he conducts wind band, coordinates rehearsals, and oversees all aspects of percussion instruction, including marching front ensemble, marching battery, concert percussion, and percussion ensemble.

Prior to working in Johns Creek, Mr. Cundy studied at Georgia Southern University, from which he graduated summa cum laude in 2023 with a B.M. in Music Education and a minor in Music Technology. At GSU, he performed with the Southern Pride Marching Band, was principal percussionist of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble, and was the pianist of the Jazz Ensemble. In 2022, Mr. Cundy was awarded with the prestigious Theodore Presser Undergraduate Music Scholarship. Mr. Cundy has studied percussion with Dr. Matthew Fallin and Brandon Kunka. Mr. Cundy also performs regularly with the Atlanta Percussion Ensemble, and teaches private lessons. Mr. Cundy is affiliated with Phi Eta Sigma, the Percussive Arts Society, the Georgia Music Educators Association and the National Association for Music Education.

Mr. Cundy currently resides in Duluth. In his free time, he enjoys cooking and trying new restaurants with his girlfriend, Monica, cheering for the Green Bay Packers on Sundays, and collecting and playing vinyl records.
