We are so excited to have your rising 9th grader join us at Johns Creek next school year! We are even more excited for your student to continue their musical journey and become a member of the prestigious Johns Creek High School Band program. I just wanted to provide you with a few informative dates and things to add to your calendar!
MARCHING BAND REGISTRATION FOR FALL 2022
We will be having marching band registration nights for the 2022 Fall Season on April 12 & 13th. The meeting on the 12th will be at Johns Creek HS (Band Room) and the meeting on the 13th will be at Autrey Mill MS (Band Room). Both meetings will begin at 6:30 PM. You only need to attend one of the meetings, not both. We encourage all students/parents who are or even considering signing up for marching band next year to please attend. We will communicate our schedule (as much as we know), volunteer opportunities, and much more information for the Fall 2022 season! See the attached flyer!
FALL 2022 Percussion Auditions
For those students wishing to be a member of the marching band percussion session, we have some rehearsal camps coming up soon. Students are meeting the following times and need to attend:
FALL 2022 Colorguard Auditions
Students interested in Colorguard will have some camps and rehearsals as well this spring – those dates and times are TBD. If you are interested in Colorguard please email Alyssa Dickens (alyssatn@icloud.com) . Bring a friend with you as well!
Wind Ensemble Auditions
For the past week and a half I have been visiting AMMS and listening to students play for their class placements for the upcoming school year. If your students wishes to be considered for the Wind Ensemble at Johns Creek they are encouraged to submit an additional recording of them playing to add to their portfolio. Placements will be largely based on teacher recommendation but playing/performance can help in this process. We ask that students submit their videos before 4/15/22 to Flipgrid using the link: https://flipgrid.com/03ac2953
BAND CLASS FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR
If your student is concerned about academics, class load, or anything else – and is afraid that band cannot work with their schedule, there are ALWAYS options! Parents, you want your students in our performing arts classes at Johns Creek. This year alone between band, chorus, and orchestra we have had over 25 All-State students, over 70 District Honor Band students, 7 GHP Finalists - more than any other school in the performing arts – COMBINED. The arts are thriving now at JCHS. Your students will get opportunities for performance, leadership, and comradery. The current Valedictorian, Salutatorian, and STAR student are all involved in the performing arts at JCHS. IT CAN BE DONE! YOUR STUDENT COULD BE NEXT! Please reach out to us with any scheduling concerns, conflicts, or questions. We are here to help your students succeed, not only in the Fine Arts but also as Johns Creek students.
