The District V 6th Grade Honor Band will be held on Saturday, May 11 th at Roswell High School from 8:30am-3:00pm. Our guest clinicians are Amy Adams (Pine Mountain Middle School) and Alex Yaden (Little Mill Middle School).
WHAT IS THIS EVENT? "Honor Band" refers to an event when students from different schools come together for one large event. Students accepted to the event will be given fun, achievable music they've never seen before, rehearse the music over the course of one day, then perform a concert at the end of the day. It is a very fun and rewarding experience, but it is also a challenge! That is why it is an honor to be chosen!
HOW ARE STUDENTS SELECTED? I will nominate up to 10 students from AMMS, as this is the limit set by the District V Honor Band Committee. If for any reason this number will increase, I will select more students. Nominations are based on behavior, attitude, work ethic, and interest. Skill level does not play a part in my nomination selection. From there, the District V Honor Band Committee will decide who is selected for the band based on the level of interest and nominations from other schools. Outside of my 10 nominations, I unfortunately have no influence over who is or is not selected. AMMS is only guaranteed two students to get into the ensemble, but hopefully more depending on the amount of students nominated district-wide. If your student is available for the day of the event and is interested in being nominated they must Request Nomination. Students should ONLY request nomination if they are available for the event. As a reminder, this is a Request for NOMINATION: this permission form does NOT guarantee acceptance to the 6th Grade Honor Band.
District V 6th Grade Honor Band student selections will be announced by March 30th.
